Bo-Kenema Substation Automation System – Sierra Leone
Client: PCIS-Gh
Location: Bo-Kenema Corridor, Sierra Leone
Scope: Testing and Commissioning of Substation Automation System
Safe Circuit Consult Limited was engaged to test and commission the Substation Automation System (SAS) for the Bo-Kenema Substation Project—a significant energy infrastructure development in Sierra Leone spearheaded by a consortium of Alpha TND, 4A Elektrik, and PCIS-Gh.
Our role was to validate the communication and operational integrity of the automation, control, and protection systems, ensuring all devices—including IEDs, SCADA interfaces, and relays—were fully functional and compliant with IEC 61850 protocols.
We conducted signal checks, interlocking verifications, logic testing, and final commissioning procedures, ensuring that the entire SAS was ready for energization.
This project highlights our deep knowledge of substation digitization and smart grid commissioning across West Africa’s emerging power markets.
